FAQ

ANY QUESTIONS?

Below are some of our most frequently asked questions. If there is anything else you want to know just ask!

Q.      My child can't eat certain foods - can you cater for them?

We are used to catering for a variety of allergies and dietary requirements - just let us know on your booking form if there is anything you'd like us to be aware of.

Q.      We don't live in the UK - can we still join a course?

Absolutely! We have taught children from all around the world in our online courses. And if the times don't work for you where you are, you can get a small group together and we can run a course just for you at more suitable times. Give us a call to discuss options.

Q. We have never done any theory before - does that matter?

We know that every students is different and will have individual needs. We do require a level of around grade 5 on their main instrument to join our intensive courses, but this usually doesn't cover theory knowledge, and in some situations (with singers and Sukzuki method students for example) there is limited prior exposure to notated music. For students who want to join with no prior knowledge, or for younger students who might find the pace of the course a little fast without more preparation, we offer pre-course sessions with Ollie or Luke, who will introduce some basic concepts ahead of the main event. Please talk to us about this when you book if you would like to know more!

Q.      What happens between the course and the exam?

After the course, you will be given access to our online resouorses to aid with exam preparation. We also offer various levels of aftercare should you need it, from a basic marking service to a series of 121 sessions with Ollie or Luke to go through attempted papers and guide practice. Please ask us about this service when you book, and we will go through the options with you.

Q.      How do I enter my child for the grade 5 theory exam?

You can book the exam yourself, directly on the abrsm.org website. Once you book, you will have 30 days to sit the exam, so only book when you have agreed with us that your child is ready! The exam is on demand so you can just do this whenever suits you.

Q.  Are online classes/courses as effective as in person lessons?

Yes! We have been teaching Aural Skills, Theory, GCSE & A-level online for years. All you need is a good wifi connecion and somewhere quiet to stay focussed. Our online courses are just as fun as our in person ones, full of games, music making and learning. One to one lessons are no different online, you just need to email us what you want to work on in advance.

Q.   We don't live in London - can you reccommend somewhere to stay and things to do?

Absolutely! We often have families from outside London joining us and we love sharing our favourite places to stay, eat, drink etc. There is so much to do here, it's a shame it's only a weekend to fill! Let us know what you like and we will happily suggest hotels, restaurants and activities to make the most out of your weekend in our amazing city!
