Our adult students come to us for a variety of reasons - to improve their classical technique, to master a particular piece or to improve their knowledge of harmony so they can write that hit song.
It really is true that it is never too late to start - we will get you playing with both hands in the first lesson even if you have never played before!
With our younger students, in addition to working through the ABRSM grade system (1-8), we know the importance of teaching our pupils how to play pieces in a range of different musical styles.
Piano Lessons
There are so many benefits to learning a musical instrument. Playing an instrument is a fantastic way to increase independence and confidence in children, something which we nurture in our lessons. For our adult students, it can be an extremely rewarding way to expel the stresses of work and every day life.
Although our lessons are primarily concerned with the piano, we actively promote a more general musical education as well. From history to harmony, a good all round knowledge of your instrument leads to a better approach to and appreciation of a piece of music. We tailor our lessons to each individual student, to encourage them in their strengths and support them in areas where they need to improve.
Above all, we listen to what you want. We teach a vast range of repertoire from Bach to Shostakovich, Gershwin to Muse. We can focus on the music that interests you and hopefully broaden your horizons by introducing you to something new as well.
As we all know, practice makes perfect. Since regular practice is an essential part of your child's piano education and often children have busy after school schedules, it is extremely important to learn how to most effectively use time at the piano to achieve the best results. We teach you and your child how to make the most of practice time.
